The Holistic Playroom — 0 to 6 years

The Holistic Playroom  is a place for children and families to slow down, connect, move, explore and simply be.

Inspired by Montessori and Steiner philosophies, alongside other respectful and child-led approaches to early childhood, the Playroom brings together different elements and experiences to create an environment where children can follow their own interests, play freely and engage with the world around them in meaningful ways.

At the heart of the Playroom is free play. There is no set activity that children need to complete and no expectation to perform. Instead, the environment is thoughtfully prepared with open-ended materials, natural elements, opportunities for imaginative play, sensory exploration and movement. Children are invited to choose what interests them, interact with others, experiment, create and learn at their own pace.

Movement and mindfulness are also an important part of our approach. Children need opportunities to move their bodies, develop physical confidence and experience their bodies in different ways. At the same time, we create moments of calm, awareness and presence — helping children and adults slow down, notice, connect and be truly present in the space.

Play Therapy also plays an important role in the philosophy of The Holistic Playroom. Through my ongoing training as a Play Therapist, I bring an understanding of play as a child's natural language — a way for children to express themselves, explore relationships, process experiences and make sense of their world. The Playroom is not a therapy session, but this therapeutic understanding informs the way the environment is created and how children are supported.

Community is at the centre of it all. The Playroom is a place for children, but also for the adults who care for them. A space to meet other families, share experiences, observe your child, build connection and feel that you are part of a community. We believe that children thrive when they feel connected, and that families need spaces where they can feel welcomed, supported and present too.

From time to time, we will also offer special sessions and experiences, including Music Therapy, movement-based activities and other guest-led experiences that complement the philosophy of the Playroom.

The Holistic Playroom is a space to move, play, connect, wonder and belong — with a gentle awareness of the child as a whole.

Families remain together throughout the session, with parents and caregivers responsible for their children.

Come as you are. There is no right way to play — just space to be together, connect and enjoy childhood.

Bring any comfort items your child may need! Water, snacks, nappy bag, towel, change of clothes, etc!
